25th November 2008 Meeting

25th of November 2008!!

We had another round of EXCITING meeting!

Word of the Evening: Subtle (difficult to detect or grasp by the mind or analyze; able to make fine decisions)

E.g.: A speech with a subtle difference on his part proved to be working its magic on the audience tonight.

Roleplayers of the Evening:

Toastmaster of the Evening - Grace Chong, CC
Sergeant At Arms - Yap Chee Jung, TM
Timer - Lim Teck Liong, TM
Ah Counter - Michael, TM
Grammarian - Lim Sze Yue, CC
GENERAL EVALUATOR - Wong Yoke Yee (a.k.a. Mrs. Ngu), CC

Table Topics Session:

Our Table Topics Master for the evening caught the audience attention with a surprising theme! (It was suppose to be a regular meeting, that is without any theme for the evening). Dorcas Aung, our regular guest splendidly threw out her table topics question with the theme "Do Whatever You Like, Just As Long As You Don't Mess Up". We later found out that there was a story behind this theme, a very funny story. XD

So..who was the first to step up? Our Immediate Past President (IPP), Ms. Priscila Low led the way, portraying the confidence of a truly seasoned speaker. Not wanting to miss out, Mr. Joshua George was up next. Then, a first-timer (and soon to be TM) Thaceswaran *Welcome Aboard!!* took the challenge on sharing with us how to be a good parent when he's just only a student! Amazing feat. TM Jackie Ang was the fourth volunteer. To Marry Or To Stay Single? Guess what was his choice? Hmm.. Jackie, a man who wants freedom and dread the naggings of a partner. Got it? Last but not least, Lucas Ng came up with his diplomatical view on the topic given. Man, we ought to learn from him! Our dear Table Topics Evaluator was none other than Terry Ng,CC. To sum up all his evaluation, one word, excellent!

Humour Session:

On the spot, our dear humour master refused to let us down! TM Foo Li Hwa with her ever entertaining jokes made the mood in the room even more livelier! Awesome work. Thank you so much!

What about the Food?

Nasi Lemak was the menu of the day. Side servings of spring-rolls and yummy doughnuts delighted all of us who were present.

Assignment Speakers:

TM Joshua George - C&L - 8th Speech (Nanotechnology) *An amazing insight on Nanotechnology!*
TM Samuel Fo - C&L - 3rd Speech (The Law of Sam) *Funny, Charming, Successful, Mysterious and Confidence is all I can say. Want to know more? Come to our meeting and get to know him better!*
TM Muthu Kumar - C&L - 6th Speech (Love Conquers All) *An exciting love story between the Prince of Death and the Princess of Earth!*

Assignment Evaluators:

Lim Sze Yue, CC
Dorcas Aung, CC
Priscila Low, ACB CL

Special Event:

We welcomed CC Terry Ng who had missed out on our meetings for some time now. It was always good and exciting with his presence. Another seasoned speaker to guide our members with his constructive suggestions. CC Terry, your guidance are much needed for us to improve further..so, please do come and visit us again! Our stand-in General Evaluator, Mrs Ngu shared with everyone present that its been a while since she had stayed throughout the whole of the meeting (she had other commitments). Now is that a special event or what? The laughters of Mrs Ngu along with Ms Priscila too was so special because they were so addictive!

Our Honoured Guests:

Dorcus Aung, CC (Ireka TMC)
Terry Ng, CC
Mr. Patrick Cheah
Author Yong, CC
Chen Yien Li, CC
Michael, TM
Thaceswaran, (soon to be TM )
Lim Keng Pien (hopefully, soon to be TM..like Mr. Meyya always puts it..Begin, the rest is Easy!)

We extend our most sincere gratitude and welcome all of you to come again for our coming meetings. Why? It's simple. (It's gonna be difficult to relate this to the word 'subtle', so I'm gonna pass on this!) We know you have a lot of invaluable knowledge and experience to share with us. I'll go straight to the point. We want to LEARN FROM YOU! Together we speak, together, we learn from one another.

Special Moments:

Closing speech by President, Mr Joshua George. The message was clear. Do not deliver a speech just for the sake of delivering. Mrs Ngu strengthen the message by saying, "At the end of the day, you want to go back home telling yourself you did well and could now have a peaceful sleep."

*DRUM ROLLS PLEASE!!!!!*
